Betrayals, Bargains, and Death

Betrayal, resurrection, and invention collide—Falique's staged death, Blaze's revival, and Karolin's obsession with a magical camera shift alliances in Caer Lethwyn.

Betrayals, Bargains, and Death

August 2

The session began in the streets of Caer Lethwyn, as the party continued tracking Falique, the mysterious polymorphed cat who had been tailing them for weeks. After a brief chase and clever use of magic, the party captured and unmasked him.

Falique, surprisingly cooperative, made the party an offer: stage his death, and he would provide them with a handful of unique magical items in return for his freedom. The group agreed, setting the stage with illusion and trickery to fool any watchers. Falique vanished with their thanks, and the deal was sealed.

⚔️ The Fight with Captain White

The peace was short-lived. Later that day, the group encountered Captain White, a hulking Half-Ogre enforcer working for Karolin Silver 3-Star. Tensions escalated quickly into a brutal street fight.

During the melee, Blaze was struck down, falling lifeless in the chaos.

🐾 Elliot’s Desperate Climb

Before rushing off, Elliot told the party he would meet them at the Matron’s sanctuary, reasoning that she was likely the only ranking wizard in the city with the power to resurrect Blaze.

With Blaze’s body in his arms and the enchanted necklace secured, Elliot scaled the cliffs with his catlike reflexes, determined and focused.

🕊️ On the way, he was confronted by a strange white-tipped bird, which polymorphed into a woman and attempted to steal the necklace. After a swift and brutal fight, Elliot left her bleeding behind and pressed on.

At the cliffside sanctuary, the Matron agreed to perform the resurrection ritual in exchange for the necklace. With the ceremony complete, Blaze was brought back to life, his body restored through ancient magic.

📷 Karolin’s Offer

The resurrection had left Blaze weak, and the party decided to return to the inn to rest and regroup.

There, they encountered Karolin Silver 3-Star, the eccentric and powerful merchant who had previously tasked them with killing Falique. Suspicious at first, she was shown a series of magical photos taken with the arcane-powered camera built by Thomas.

Her demeanor shifted instantly.

Karolin was extremely intrigued by the device, fascinated by its construction and magical interface. Rather than anger at Falique's escape, she became obsessed with the camera’s design, proposing a new deal: if the party could recreate the device for her, she would reward them handsomely.

The party accepted, eager to keep the peace and earn her favor.
